Being Happy!

|

Andrew Matthews is an international speaker on attitude, happiness, success and prosperity. In the field of motivation and personal development, his books, "Being Happy!" is classic. This book is about understanding yourself, being able to laugh at yourself, becoming more prosperous and being able to forgive yourself. It also discusses understanding natures laws so we can better deal with our own natures.
The author writes in a very entertaining and simple style. The book is structured in a way that builds you up-and-into the life that you deserve; first by controlling the mind and then by pursuing what it is that will make you happy. What I like most about this book is it's simplicity; it contains lots of tips and information, more-so than most books in this genre, and yet nothing is heavy, it is all made so simple, like you are recieving advice in conversation with the worldly wise. It is also peppered with inspirational quotes which gives it incredible motivational power.
I have few collections of Andrew Matthews', like, "Follow Your Heart" and "Happiness Now".

Vocabs Enhancement

Dictionary a reference book that contains alhabetically ordered words, with explanations of their meanings, often with information about grammer, pronunciation, and etymology. Thus, these are very essential books for us, the Yayasan Yusuf fraternity, to have. You can see from the above photo, most of them were frequently refered and read.

Prime Minister Quality Award: Our First Attempt

|

PETRONAS Ammonia Sdn Bhd or in short PASB has been certified to ISO 9001:2002 in 2003. The certification marked another milestone of its journey towards achieving a world class standard. Started humbly with its Employee Suggestion Scheme (ESS) one year after moving to its operation phase mid 2000, PASB has never looked back but in fact striving forward making continous improvement effort to achieve its goal. Subsequently, 5S was introduced in 2002 which proved sincere Management commitment to develop not only system but to nurture right mindset and quality culture. The 5S was perceived as the fundamental of quality philosophy which complimented the PETRONAS Quality Culture Process (QCP) introduced early 2001. To sustain the momentum of our Quality Journey and with the aim to develop quality mindset, PASB decided to participate in a very prestigious award - the Prime Minister Qaulity Award (PMQA) in 2005. Despite its baby phase operated by young workforce, PASB braved herself to compete with well establised multinationals and reputable organizations in this tough competition for only one reason - the people development. PASB were represented by a team of five lead by Saiful, Ahmad Sharifuddin, Nazrul, Nursita and Kamarul on the historic 8th of August 2005 afternoon, during their first attempt, 2nd screening process of the PMQA. The one year effort made by PASB was finally recognised as one of the top 5 finalist. Nevertheless, we somehow or rather had achieved our objective to boost up our momentum and thanks to all.

A week after later, we were invited to the award giving ceremony by the Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Hj Ahmad Badawy at the Palace of Golden Horses. PASB was represented by the Management team, PASB PMQA Taskforce and the Union members.

Graduation: Managing Development Programme

|

'Ade Kelas Beb' - literally it means we have the class. The team Ade Kelas Beb (AKB) was formed on the 11th of April 2005 at PERMATA. It comprises of five managers from PETRONAS GAS Berhad (PGB), Ethlene PolyEthlene Malaysia Sdn Bhd (EPEMSB) and PETRONAS Ammonia Sdn Bhd (PASB). Five of them namely:
- ‘Adros M Appandi a Material Service Manager at PASB and has been with PETRONAS for 18 years
- M Harus B Wagirin an Operation Utility Manager has been with PETRONAS Gas Bhd for the last 25 years
- A Rahman B Bistamam an Engineering Maintenance Manager at PGB, has been with PETRONAS for the past 22 years
- Nasruddin B M Zain a Sales Manager at EPEMSB, has been with PETRONAS for 22 years
- Saiful Anuar B Hj Joll an Organizational Improvement Manager at PASB and has been with PETRONAS for the last 16 years.

The basis of the formation is basically the geographical aspect, where all the members except Nasruddin are based at Kertih, Terengganu. Nasruddin however, is frequently available at Kertih due to his business requirement. This aspect is quite significant for the smooth progress and momentum of the team operation. Consequently, it reduced the traveling expenditure of the team members.
Lead by Saiful Anuar who was unanimously appointed by other members, the team called itself ade kelas beb. Literally it means it has class! The consideration to use the name is simply it is in line with their project theme in identifying a world class characteristics and elements. And, another aspect of it, the name is kind of a motivation factor to the members itself. Alhamdullillah, the AKB was awarded The Best Overall Project and I personally won the Best Project Award and the Best Student Award. Graduated from the MDP with the three awards was one of utmost achievement that I have ever achieved while in PETRONAS. The MDP is the collaboration effort between PERMATA and the University of Melbourne - the top best university in Australia. Again, thank you PETRONAS.

Philip Crosby Collection

|

These two books by Philip Crosby are part of our reference when PETRONAS embarked with its Quality Culture Process (QCP). It helps to explain the five quality PETRONAS principles: Conformance to Requirement; Prevention; Right Things Right Everytime; Price of Non-Conformance and Proactive Leadership at All Levels. I must say, these books are momento when I was managing Quality in PETRONAS Ammonia Sdn Bhd, Kertih, Terengganu.

Crossing East-West Highway to Penang

|

It was just a wild idea to go to Penang through East-West Highway(EWH). Well, actually this was our second time crossing the EWH and the main intention was to usher and entertain our kind Abg Hj Sazali (AHZ) a.k.a Bg Gandot, Kak Hjh Lela (KHL) and their daughter Azimah & Husband. We departed Kemaman at about 13:00 hrs and believed us we did not make any hotel booking at Kota Bahru Kelantan aka KB where we planned for our pit-night stop. Unlucky us, all hotels at Kota Bahru were fully booked. To cut the long story short, we arrived at KB around 22:30 hrs and thanks to Kak Nik & Abg Nik Yusuf for willingly accomodating us at their house in Langgar, KB. Otherwise, we have to find some other alternatives for us to stay. The lessons learnt: Plan first before you do anything.
We had a good dead sleep after a very exhaustive journey. The next morning, we started our journey heading Rantau Panjang - a duty free zone and a border town of Malaysia and Thailand to do some shopping.
Rantau Panjang is famous for its ladies' scarfs, local handicrafts, clothings, cheap T-shirts, and fake-branded items like shoes, hand bags, etc. Nevertheless, sad to mention, the place is crowded and dirty. Despite that, people from as far as Sabah visited this place for many reasons. We spent about one and half hours there before we started our crossing.
The starting point of the crossing is from a place called Kpg Bukit Pak Mud or Village of Uncle Mud's Hill. The point-to-point distance is about 230 km through winding and hilly roads. EWH is clossed for vehicles during dark due to its unsafe condition and spooky. The highway facility, such as, R & R, etc. is limited and sometime you will experience the wild elephant pedestrianing the highway which can be exciting but intimidating.
As the car need to be refilled with PETRONAS Premium Unleaded gas, our stomach need to be filled with good foods & bevearages too. We stopped in the mid-way of EWH and spoilt us with the local cuisine. The service was slow, but the restaurant's hygiene was superb, the foods & drinks were excellent and damn cheap. ABZ and KHL despite their diabeticity, finished scrumptiously 2 sets of the menu.
Along the EWH, we stopped for photo shoot at the highest peak of the highway of the famous Malaysian Crocker Range. The weather was nice, cold, windy and cloudy - I mean the cloud was just around us which made it difficult to catch good photo shoot.
Alhamdullillah, we arrived at Penang around 21:30 hrs. To AHZ and KHL, we would like to record our sincere heartfelt thanks to both of you for your kindness and everythings. may Allah swt always give His Blessing to bot of you.

Raya Haji 2005 ...... with Tsunami

|

Tsunami - big giant wave - hit Malaysia on the Christmas eve of 2005. Kuala Muda, a small fishing village located in the northern state of Kedah was horribly crushed by the tremendous force of the wave. Houses, trees, roads, cars, etc. except a mosque were damaged and laid down. The aftermath shredded tears of any people who witnessed the scene and traumatized the victim psychologically.
We went there about one month after the D-day. Met few victims and one of the families invited us to join their brunch. We were touched with their kindness and hospitality despite their trauma.
